Over the past few years, there has been an influx of foreign extras into Bollywood.
And Scarlett Wilson is the newest addition to this list. The London-born model, who finds India "addictive" will be shortly seen performing an item number in Dibakar Banerjee's upcoming film. But that's not it. She's also playing a small role in this political thriller.
Although fellow Brit Katrina Kaif admittedly inspires her, Scarlett believes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the face of Bollywood abroad.
She adds, "Back home in England, you think of Bollywood and Ash's gorgeous face pops up in your head. She is that famous out there. To me, the ‘Dhola Re Dhola' song from Devdas redefines perfection in the song-dance ritual usually followed by Hindi films."
Being a trained dancer, she has worked across many cities in various projects including television and commercial ads.
Recommended to Dibakar by choreographers Bosco and Caesar, she found the whole big screen experience fulfilling. "Dibakar sat with me and went through each part of the song so that I performed it perfectly and matched exactly his expectations, " says the 24-year-old newbie.
Open to a full-fledged career in the country, Scarlett is currently taking Hindi lesson "to feel at home" as well as to better her chances in the industry.
Intriguingly, she doesn't attribute her hourglass figure to any fitness regime. In fact, she rarely jogs and hasn't dieted ever. "Well, I've been dancing since the age of one and I still do, " she shrugs.
