Filmfare Award winning actor R. Madhavan turned a year older on Friday.

The actor who was born on June 1, 1970 in Jamshedpur, India, to a Hindu Tamil Brahmin family turned 42.

Madhavan stepped into the entertainment world with guest appearances in TV.

As a film actor, he gained recognition in Mani Ratnam's successful romantic film Alaipayuthey by enacting a husband who goes through the traumas of marriage.

In terms of films, the talented Tamil actor has worked in seven different languages.

Madhavan's Hindi film career kicked off from mid 2000s. His Bollywood ventures include Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Rang De Basanti, Delhii Heights, Mumbai Meri Jaan, 3 Idiots, Tanu Weds Manu and in recent times Jodi Breakers opposite Bipasha Basu to name a few.
