Though he was always known as a good actor, Randeep Hooda had to really wait to finally find his place under the sun.

After three successful films, Randeep is having the ‘busiest' time of his life as far as work is concerned. In a candid interview with CS, the handsome Jat talks about success and failure:

A busy bee
I have never been so busy in my entire life. Though this doesn't fit into my style of working, I know that I have made commitments, and have to fulfill them to my best ability. At some level, I am also enjoying this grind of having to essay different characters at the same time. I also managed to find some time to do some theatre in between. I guess I will live and learn.

Of ups and downs
I am really glad that critics and audiences appreciated my last three films. After sitting at home for almost three years, this kind of acceptance is heartwarming. But with success comes responsibility of delivering your best, and I hope to do justice to all my roles.

I am glad that I went through my tough phase with a certain amount of dignity and belief that all was not lost. My horses were my biggest source of strength, but monetarily my biggest curse.

I needed money to look after them, and I am glad that I could manage to look after them really well. Horse-riding took my mind off from failure, and so that jilted feeling didn't set in.

I feel sorry for actors who only think about films and box office successes 24x7. It can lead to so much gloom. But then, they're more successful because they are devoted to the films.



Firmly on the ground
I like to have some consistency in my life. So, I haven't changed anything after my recent ‘successful' phase. I am still close to people who were there for me in my bad days. Like Will Smith famously said, "If you're absent during my struggle, don't expect to be present during my success."

The alpha male
I would love to do more macho roles. It's good to have people identifying you with something. Films are products of mass consumption, and you need to consolidate your market (We remind him that he's talking like a perfect MBA executive; he holds an MBA in marketing from Australia). Well, I haven't put my education into any use till now. I do want to take up breakaway roles but now it's time to focus on my strengths.
