A petition calling for a ban on Bollywood film "Nazar" in Pakistan and barring Pakistani actress Meera from "bold performances" such as she did in the film has been filed
before the Sindh High Court.
The petitioner, Muzaffar Hussain Askari, has contended that Meera had enacted immoral scenes that do not match with Pakistan's religious and social values, reported
television channel ARY.
The channel said that a two-member bench of the court would hear the petition that has made the religious affairs ministry and culture and tourism ministry also parties to
the case.
The petitioner has requested the court to ban the film in Pakistan "as some scenes were not reflective of Pakistani society."
He has also asked the court to bar Meera from working on such projects in future.
The Daily Times newspaper here quoted Meera as saying that both Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed had assured her of security
after she received death threats from "extremist elements".
The government had also provided her with guards, she said.
