"I thought Jhilmil will be difficult. Initially, it was difficult, " said Priyanka now that "my heart is with Jhilmil".
"It is a very special character and I hope you like it. It is my most endearing character, " she told reporters Monday at the release of its first trailer here.
In the Anurag Basu directed film, Priyanka has teamed up with Ranbir Kapoor, who will be seen as Murphy, a fun loving deaf and mute guy. The actress says that the purpose of "Barfi" is to dispel the myth that disabled people live a dark and depressing life.
"When we meet differently-abled people, we always have a view point that they live a dark, sorrowful life. But this is not a film about that. They also smile, laugh, they fall in love, enjoy themselves. This is that side of their lives... I don't think, after a while you will remember that these characters have disability, " she said.
This is Priyanka and Ranbir's second film together after "Anjaana Anjaani".
Priyanka finds Ranbir's character "really adorable" in the film and says that "he will make you laugh and you will want to be him".
'Barfi' is filled with emotion, said the actress and added that the movie will "reside in my heart for a really long time and I want to definitely say thank you to everyone who thought I was capable of playing Jhilmil".
From a model in "Fashion" to femme fatale in "7 Khoon Maaf", Priyanka has essayed different roles and feels very fortunate to be able to get these opportunities.
"Anyone will get bored by doing just one thing. I am lucky that my directors can see me in different characters and I can make them believe in me for different characters. I like working hard and I hope you feel I have justified Anurag sir's vision after seeing Jhilmil, " she said.
