It looks like Part Two of Anurag Kashyap's recent gangster film may still be some time away from hitting the marquee. Buzz is that the makers are no longer certain of being able to release the second part, three weeks after the first part of Gangs of Wasseypur released because they are anticipating trouble posed by the families of some people on whom characters in Part Two are based.
Our source says, "The makers are apparently trying to make sure that no one from the family of Shafi Khan (which Manoj Bajpayee played as Sardar Khan) are offended by the contents of the film."
The source adds, "All the characters in the first half of the film are no longer alive. Be it Tigmanshu Dhulia's character based on Suryadev Singh or his son J P Singh or even Shafi Khan.
Hence, there were no controversies." The source, however, points out that Shafi Khan's son, Faheem Khan (on whom Nawazuddin's character Faisal is based), is alive and currently in a Dhanbad jail. Faheem, alongwith Gopi Khan (on whom Reema Sen's son's role is based) who is also alive, currently runs the mafia circle in Dhanbad, where the film is set.
Our source says, "The first half was well received, especially in Bihar; so the makers do not want any trouble with Part Two.
They are in the process of reaching a settlement with Faheem Khan's family and once that is sorted the film will be released." Incidentally, the family of Gangs writer Syed Zeishan Quadri also resides in Dhanbad. The makers of the film remained unavailable for comment.
