Accused breaks into Jalsa — the Bachchan bungalow and steals money before being caught

He was able to swipe just Rs 8, 000, but managed to give some anxious moments to Bollywood's first family.

Early in the morning on July 20, Dilip Kevat scaled the wall of Jalsa — the bungalow of Amitabh Bachchan — overcame the nets placed to stop intruders, and got into the house with the intention of robbery.

While he was sifting through the belongings, he was spotted by one of the family members, who raised an alarm and called security. The guards soon caught the person and later handed him over to Juhu police.

Cops said that while frisking him they found Rs 8, 000 from the accused. Sources say that the crook is in police custody and is being questioned. He recently arrived here from Uttar Pradesh and knew it was Amitabh Bachchan's house.

Deewar no bar!

"He had mounted the rear wall and then jumped onto the balcony. He found some cash inside a room and took it. He was then detected and caught by security."

Deputy commissioner of police (Zone IX) Pratap Dighavkar said, "He has been sent to police custody for 14 days. We found that he had no intention of harming anyone. He found some loose cash and picked it up. The security guards caught him and handed him over to the police."

Bachchan bol

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog, "Spent some anxious moments yesterday since we had a break in! The guy was caught and is with the police now under investigation. Seems like a professional, for he had entered the most sensitive area of the house, Jalsa."

"Cops and security are in overdrive now. In the end nothing is secure, irrespective of how much precaution one takes, " Bachchan added.
