Even before the country could shake off the shock of Rajesh Khanna's sudden demise, allegations made by the late veteran actor's companion Anita Advani have become the talk of the town.
Little is known about the lady, who on the eve of the superstar's death, even shot off a legal notice against his family citing domestic violence. Until now, as we bring you more on who Anita really is and some other startling facts about her...
In her legal notice, Anita asked Khanna's family not to evict her from his iconic bungalow Aashirwad on Carter Road. A source close to Anita's family says, "Anita is the youngest of three sisters who used to stay in Tulsi Mahal building near St Theresa Church in Bandra West.
The elder sister got married and shifted while the middle sister Shanta and Anita stayed on with their mother. They later shifted to Marilyn House in Bandra West near Waterfield Road where she has been staying till about recently."
Incidentally, Anita too had a career in Bollywood. Our source states that she was a starlet who wanted to act in films and that's when she got in touch with ace filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli in the 1980s. The source adds, "Kohli gave her a break in Saazish that released in 1988 where she played Geeta, Mithun Chakraborty's sister."
And lo and behold! The film even starred Rajesh Khanna's now estranged wife Dimple Kapadia in the lead role.
The source says, "However, after Saazish her film career ended and we are not aware what she did after that."
Another source points out, "While it still remains a mystery as to how she came in touch with Rajesh Khanna, the fact is that until recently she was staying at her Marilyn House residence. However, she has not been seen in the building in recent times."
A resident of the same building on conditions of anonymity told us, "Yes, there was an Anita Advani in the building but we have not seen her in months now. We are not aware if she is the same lady." Anita Advani did not respond to our calls or texts.
