His Cocktail tracks may have fared well on the music charts, but Anurag Basu feels that his forthcoming film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra has seen the best-ever work from Pritam.
However, the director adds that when he wanted the music director to work on the background score of the film, Pritam was not very forthcoming.
Anurag points out that despite making repeated calls to Pritam, the latter tried to shirk the responsibility. The filmmaker adds that since the protagonists play deaf and dumb characters in the film, the background score held immense importance.
The filmmaker says, `There are seven songs in the film that are composed by Pritam. We wanted to make nice songs and not just a hit. I would still add that Pritam is at his best in this film but I have never seen these shades of him before!`
So is Pritam lazy? Anurag state that he feels the music director actually suffers from commitment phobia.
`It is a case of major commitment phobia. Pehle usne haa kaha, fir naa kaha, phir se haa kaha, phir naa kaha, and finally agreed to do it.` We say, all's well that ends well!
