Ranbir Kapoor has been a fan of cinematic legend Charlie Chaplin ever since he was a young boy. Little did he know that one day he would be doing a film where he would be required to communicate in the same manner that Chaplin did in his silent era films.
When Anurag Basu offered him the role of Murphy in his next film with Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz, RK decided to take a trip to New York to watch a Broadway show titled Chaplin-The Musical to prep up for his role. In fact, even as a kid, Ranbir had seen the show several times.
Such was his passion that the actor remained in New York for a week, to be able to catch the same show seven days in a row.
Ranbir states, `Yes, I flew down to New York for the show and it was an inspiration. However, we did not copy or try to replicate anything from the show in our film.`
