Shreya unveiled her "unplugged" songs in the presence of music stalwarts at a city hotel.
With Durga Puja round the corner, the album from Asha Audio titled "Monkemoner Station" promises to be a listener's delight.
The other musical personalities who shared the stage with Shreya at the launch were composer Joy Sarkar and lyricist Srijato.
Shreya waited for an auspicious opportunity to launch her solo album which is a unique blend of mellifluent melody, hiphop, rock and roll as well as semi classical.
She said she wanted to break the stereotypes of her film songs and hence settled for a non film album. The compositions of the Bengali film "Jodi Ekdin" made her choose Joy Sarkar for this album.
"The album is a beautiful chemistry of three people but one soul. The album has got different songs but they have a particular character and are entwined with a thread, " gushed Shreya.
"The album sounds so innovative and new, " said the enthusiastic singer.
Usha Uthup, who was also present at the event, commented, "The album is a combination of square, all the equals and that is the USP".
According to the pop icon, Shreya is truly a gem that India has ever produced and "so is the combination for the album which cannot fail."
Shreya always had a Bengali album, particularly something which has a different touch, in her wishlist. She was driven by the idea of the songs which had a free spirit to them. thus, she said she is thankful to Asha Audio for initiating and inviting her to record this album.
The evening furthur reached its fillip with Shreya lending her voice to some of the numbers from the album.
Finally she promised her audiences, especially her fans out in Kolkata, for more such albums only if they combat in fighting against piracy.
