"There were some mishaps on the sets of the disco song. So the production, well trained by me, decided to have a puja on the sets just to see that the shooting goes on smoothly," the 40-year-old said here Monday while promoting the film at a radio station.
"There had been two-three mishaps on the sets, Varun (Dhawan) injured his nose, there was a fight sequence between Siddharth (Malhotra) and Varun where this happened. But now everything is fine. Then once a light was about to fall on me but I think that was a mischief played by them ( actors) . After that the production decided to have a puja and then everything was smooth sailing," he added.
Meanwhile, talking about the film's plot, Karan says this film also deals with relationships and not much with romance.
"There is one coming-of-age story, but this is not that. This is coming-of-realisation story. You come to realise, no matter what, relationships matter more than day-to-day competitions of life," Karan said.
"There is some kind of competition going on between various relationships, husband-wife, parents and children, friends. This film addresses the redundancy of that. Eventually whichever competition you may be going through, friendships, relationships and love are above all that," he added.
"Student of The Year" also stars Alia Bhatt and is set for an Oct 19 release.
