Raveena Tandon's upcoming film directed by Sudipto Chattopadhyay in which she essays a high society cougar will premiere at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival that is being held from September 20-23.
The actress, who will be seen in a lead role after a hiatus, is slated to be in the US for the festival. Interestingly her cousin Manjari Makijany's film is also being screened at the festival. Both will also be screened on the same day September 23.
Manjari is the daughter of the late character actor Macmohan (best remembered as Samba from Sholay). Raveena's mother Veena and Macmohan are siblings.
Says Manjari, `I was surprised when I realised that Raveena didi's film and mine were not only part of the same festival but also being screened on the same day! I have always looked up to her. She has always been encouraging and supportive.`
Manjari's film is about street child who makes things out of junk. After his marble creation is broken by a bunch of other street kids, he is left with nothing but the remains of his work. The film's cast includes street children from Mumbai besides Manjari's brother Vikrant.
It has been screened at various international festivals. Macmohan passed away in 2010 and his daughter is making films under his production house's banner.
