The last time he did something like this was 13 years ago when he directed Hu Tu Tu. Incidentally, this project also marks the first time a film will have his name in the credit list not as lyricist or writer but as a presenter.
Gulzar had been associated with this post-Independence period film which is also Vijay Raaz's directorial debut mentoring from the script level. Recently, he saw the film and agreed to lend his name to the project on the paper as well.
In fact, the title of the film was also kept after he suggested few names for the film. However, the reason why he agreed to be part of the team is because of the film's humorous take on Indo-Pak relationship.
`I have written a lot about Partition and I am still writing about it. The subject is very close to my heart. I had heard the script and had agreed to help the film in whatever way I can.
