"I like a role when initially it scares me, when the character scares you that, whether I can do it or not. Every character I thought can be easily done, went wrong," the 39-year-old said here Wednesday at the music launch of his forthcoming film "Chakravyuh" at a radio station.
"But Prakash (Jha) has always given me characters which allow you to push yourself and go beyond," added Rampal.
Meanwhile, Arjun also revealed that "Chakravyuh" director Prakash Jha has also acted in a scene of the film.
"That was the most historical moment actually because he (Jha) kept the juiciest dialogues and the best set for himself, for his scenes... But it came out as a wonderful scene and I hope it's in the film," said Arjun.
Talking about his stint as an actor, Jha said, "There were some junior artists like Arjun Rampal because of whom I have not been able to keep that scene in the film."
"Chakravyuh" also stars Abhay Deol, Esha Gupta and Manoj Bajpayee and hits theatres Dusshera, Oct 24.
