Well if flaunting tomato red pants wasn't risque enough, Salman Khan has proved yet again why he is the fashion god's favourite child. With his latest accessory - the brooch pin - he erases away the fine line between men and women's fashion.
For the first episode of the sixth season of his TV reality show Bigg Boss, Salman looked dapper in his three-piece suit. However, one thing that didn't miss the eyes of the fashion buffs was the very vintage-looking safety pin brooch that hung unabashedly from his jacket.
The makers of Bigg Boss, in the previous show, apparently wanted Sallu's 'raw masculinity' to ooze out. But looks like this time, the actor is ready to take a few risks here and there.
Pinning the look
If anyone made famous the simple safety pin, a staple in a regular embroidery kit, it's the luxury label Versace. In 1994, Elizabeth Hurley paraded her lithe body in a barely-there ensemble, held together by a handful of safety pins. Jaws dropped and tongues engaged in tittle-tattle.
Wild child Lady Gaga flaunted it again, only a few days ago, giving her royal stamp of approval to the fashion industry's quirky accomplice. Designers like Marc Jacobs and the late Alexander McQueen have also released their version of the safety pin brooch.
Akin to his bindaas persona, Sallu defies boundaries once again and embraces this quirky accessory to give it his personal touch. After all, the actor is known to wear his heart (and his style) on his lapel. All that he needed was a pin to make it sit better!
Sallu's style gurus
Given that Salman is one of the leading style-setters in the country, it was once again up to his sister Alvira and stylist Ashley Rebello to develop the star's look for this season of Bigg Boss. We think Sallu's style definitely works just as Coco Chanel's words ring true - 'Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only.' Amen to that!
