Strangely to promote 'Son Of Sardaar', Ajay Devgn is lending support to a cricket tournament which has Shah Rukh Khan's KKR playing in it!
There's no love lost between Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn. Their rivalry is old and everyone in B-Town is well aware of it. So it comes as a surprise to note that Devgn is lending his name as brand ambassador to the Champions League Twenty-20 being played in South Africa. The tourney has SRK's team Kolkata Knight Riders, winners of the IPL 2012, competing for the top honour!
It is ironical to see Devgn in the promos urging Indian cricket fans to show their support and love to our teams playing in the league with KKR's logo popping up in the background. He even says, 'Champions League T- 20 Jeetvana Zaruri Hai'. And KKR are keen to retain their winning streak! Their first match against Delhi Daredevils is slated for October 13.
Devgn is taking on SRK at the box office next month. With their films releasing on the same day next month, he sees this as a good opportunity to promote his production as well as the matches will be followed across the globe.
Fan fare
A source says, `Ajay is a huge cricket buff and is glued to the TV whenever a match is on. Even when he is shooting he makes sure to catch up the action in his vanity van.
When he came to know that the top four teams of the IPL will be playing for the Champions League T20, he decided to associate his name with it. He also felt it was ideal to promote his upcoming film which has Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha as the tourney runs till almost the end of October.`
Adds the source, `What will be of interest to note is whether Devgn will travel to South Africa for the matches as brand ambassador. It will surely be uncomfortable for him if he has to be present for any of the KKR matches!`
Twin deal
Buzz is that he might not. But since SRK will also be seen promoting his own Diwali release at the venue, Ajay may not have much of a choice. Incidentally even before the recent India-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, Ajay had surfaced before the match to promote his film as well as to wish India luck.
