Bollywood trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh on Sunday said Chopra has been diagnosed with an attack of dengue and been kept under observation.
"Yash Chopraji hospitalized, " Adarsh tweeted.
"Yash Chopraji diagnosed with an attack of dengue. He has been kept under observation. He is feeling much better and should be home soon, " he said.
The veteran filmmaker Chopra last month announced his retirement from film direction.
Indian film-buffs are eagerly waiting to see 80-year-old Chopra's latest directorial venture 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'.
The film features Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles.
It is scheduled to hit the big screen on Nov 13.
Chopra has charmed Indian audience with films like 'Daag', 'Joshila', 'Silsila', 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Veer-Zaara'.
