Veteran actor Pran essayed that role in the original flick. With remakes of old Bollywood films being made every other day, CS spoke to Sonu about five roles he would love to play:
Raj from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
I feel that the script of DDLJ was one of the best in the history of Indian cinema. And the character of Raj was so larger than life, yet so relatable. I would love to be Raj because he is so iconic.
He had so much passion to chase the girl of his dreams all the way from London to Punjab. It was so endearing. I love this film and can watch it anytime. I hope that if I get a chance to be Raj, the girls will love my part as much as SRK's.
Mogambo from Mr India
It was a truly great performance from the late Amrish Puri, and I would love to try my hand at it. Mogambo was egoistic, large than life, intimidating everything you love about a villain, and so much style. The film, Mr India was also far ahead of its time. I would love to do Mogambo's role and give it my twist.
Vijay in Trishul
I am a huge fan of Big B. He had showcased so much anger, frustration and angst in Trishul. The scenes with Sanjeev Kumar were spectacular. The father-son relationship was beautifully portrayed on screen. I watched this film a number of times during my growing years, and I would love to be Vijay.
Vijay in Deewar
This is another one of Amitji's performances that I love. The character of Vijay in Deewar is a treat for any actor. I love intense roles and this is one of those. I grew up idolising Amitji as the angry young man of Bollywood, and would bite into this character if I got it.
Gabbar Singh in Sholay
I love villains and Gabbar Singh is simply awesome. The character has a larger than life quality that's tough for any actor to emulate. It is a typical Bollywood role over the top, flashy and loud. Sholay is one of my fave films and I would love to be a part of it, if it's made again.
