Ghazal maestro Hariharan celebrates half century

Well known ghazal and rock singer Hariharan celebrated his 50th birthday on Sunday at the ITC Grand Maratha Hotel here. The son of renowned Carnatic vocalist, the late Ananthasubramani Hariharan and Shrimati Alamelu, Hariharan was born in Mumbai on April 3, 1955.

Hariharan inherited musical talent from his parents and his mother was his first mentor. He picked up Carnatic music from his mother and made his musical debut in the Tamil entertainment industry.

Film personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Tina Ambani along with politician Amar Singh and Industrialist Anil Ambani were present on the occasion. Pakistani ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan was the center of attraction at the function.
