Shocked by the sudden demise of Yash Chopra, Madhur Bhandarkar says that he was waiting for the veteran filmmaker to recover.

"It is sad. In between there was news that he was fine and we were waiting (for him to come out of hospital). It was shocking, " Bhandarkar told reporters here Sunday.

Chopra was suffering from dengue and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital Oct 13. He passed away here Sunday following multiple organ failure. He was 80. The filmmaker returned to direction after seven years with "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" and teamed up with his favourite Shah Rukh Khan and paired him with Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. The film is set to release Nov 13.
