"I was offered to sing whether it's by Salim-Suleman or Vishal-Shekhar, but I was too shy for it. I used to try singing on the mic at their insistence but then I used to feel shy and back out saying 'I can't do this'. I had even recorded a song with Vishal and Shekhar for 'Bluffmaster', but the song was not released," Priyanka told reporters here.
"But now as I have already launched my own album, I can think about it. But I'll be selective as I am really shy," she added.
The actress was here to promote her single "In My City ft. Will.i.am", which has also been chosen as the key feature of Blender's Pride Fashion Tour.
The actress says she's honoured to have got a chance to work with international artist Will.i.am on her debut international album.
"Will.i.am is an extremely talented musician and artist. It was an honour for me to work with him. We have heard so much about him, we love their music. It was a really new experience. There are other international collaborations in this album too, you'll get to know about it as I keep unraveling my songs in the album," she added.
'In My City' song is very Indian
Despite going international with her new single song "In My City", actress Priyanka Chopra says she has tried to retain the Indianness in her new album.
"I consider myself very desi and I want the world to get the taste of India in my music. Though it's an English album, I didn't want my songs to be completely western. I wanted to have a little Indianness in it too, so we have used a lot of Indian instruments," Priyanka told here Thursday.
"As and when I unravel more of my songs, you will see a lot of Indian influences, even in the video. It's a mix-match of global music," she added.
The actress, who was here to promote her debut international single "In My City", says she is overwhelmed by the response she has received.
"When we came to know that my single has gone triple platinum, which hasn't happened to pop artists here, it was a really big deal for me," she said. "The sales of the song have been shocking for me. I didn't expect such an encouraging response from the people. I believe it was the curiosity among people, wanting to listen to me that led to such an overwhelming response," she added.
