Ekta Kapoor handpicks the actor to essay the role of Akbar in her ambitious TV show on the Mughal emperor

After playing Prithviraj Chauhan in Dharti ka Veer Yodha, actor Rajat Tokas has been chosen by Ekta Kapoor to play Akbar in her upcoming ambitious TV show based on Mughal emperor Akbar and his Hindu wife Jodha.

A source says, `After a long time Ekta is making a historical show based on a warrior. She is very kicked about the show and this time she is starting the shooting in the first week of November, two months before the show actually goes on air.`

Rajat Tokas Ekta tells us, `I wanted an actor who is a boy-man. Although Rajat has the innocence of a 19-year-old, he is seasoned in terms of maturity. Akbar was someone who became a soldier and a king at the age of 14 and by 17 he had already won a battle on his own. Rajat is an expert in martial arts and horse riding. He was perfect for me.` Meanwhile, actress Paridhi Sharma will play Jodha on the show.
