Sources revealed that Khan has no plans of having a great birthday party rather he would spend his entire day with his family.
Khan tweeted: `Best part of bırthday...motorcycle rıde on my new bajaj ktm from rajeev...wıth my son early morn and daughters b'day card on my bed...`
Born in 1965 Khan started his acting career with theatres and television serials like 'Fauji', 'Circus'.
Though Khan's first Bollywood venture was 'Dil Aashna Hai', due to production delay it was released after his second film 'Deewana' and became a box office hit. He won Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for 'Deewana' even after playing a supporting role.
Few years after his debut in Bollywood he starred in 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' opposite Kajol. This set his image as a romantic hero and made him the King of Romance in Bollywood.
He continued to play the image of romantic hero in films like 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Mohabbatein', 'Devdas', 'Chalte Chalte', 'Main Hoon Na', 'Om Shanti Om' and other films.
Best known for acting in romantic films he has also received critical acclaim for his negative roles in films like 'Darr', 'Baazigar' and 'Anjaam' has been praised by the critics.
His roles in films like 'Swades', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna', 'Chak De! India' has been widely appreciated by the critics.
The actor has won eight Filmfare Award in the category of Best Actor, which makes him the most awarded Bollywood actor of all time in that category, tied only with Dilip Kumar.
Khan is all set with his next release 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' opposite Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, which was Yash Chopra's last directorial venture. The film will hit the big screen on Nov 13.
Along with expectations and appreciations among the fans the film has also received considerable controversy as two weeks before the release of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Ajay Devgn sent a notice to Yash Raj Films.
The notice accused Yash Raj Films of monopolistic business practices and stated that they used "their dominant position in the Bollywood film market" to secure many high quality single-screens for their release.
Khan also owns a production company Dreamz Unlimited and occupies the position of CEO and co-chairman of the motion picture production and distribution company Red Chillies Entertainment and the animation studio Red Chillies VFX.
He is also co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders along with Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta.
Khan has also worked as a television presenter in a popular gaming show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'.
Khan is married to interior designer, Gauri Khan and together they have two children.
In 2005, he has been awarded with the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contributions towards Indian cinema.
