Kashyap's old-time friends from the theatre days and the trade, have now come forward to lobby for the film's release through an SMS campaign, that will be corroborate the many people who are eager to see the film.
"We are eventually planning to generate a signature campaign for the film through the SMS poll. The idea is to garner as much support as possible for the film's release," says director Imtiaz Ali (of 'Socha Na Tha' fame), Kashyap's close friend from his early theatre days in Delhi, who has been closely following the court hearings on the film.
According to Ali, the decision should be left to the audiences whether or not they want to see the film.
"We all feel that it should be left to the perception of the audiences about how far the film is justified for public exhibition. The film is based on a book which recounts the happenings, which has turned out to be a best seller. If a book can be written and allowed to be published, why can't a film be allowed for public viewing," asks Ali.
Meanwhile the SMS polling sure seems to be making is mark, with the many people in the trade who are reacting to the message and are now more than eager to catch a glimpse of the film.
"Let's hope it develops into a full-fledged movement for those wanting to see the film," enthuses Ali.
