Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has left reality show "Bigg Boss 6" midway to fulfil his commitments as a BJP campaigner for assembly elections in Gujarat, says he wasn't competing with anyone in the show.

"My competition was only with myself in 'Bigg Boss'. I was not competing with anyone else, " Sidhu said at a press conference held here Saturday, following his eviction from the house.

Sidhu opted to leave the "Bigg Boss 6" house after his wife conveyed to the channel that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi wanted Sidhu to campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in Gujarat next month.

But he says he wasn't forced by the party.

"It was sudden and surprising. I never had the plan to leave the house midway, " Sidhu said.

As a contestant, he stood by his principles, was fun loving and often played peacemaker. He was among the few who hardly had any arguments.

Initially, Sidhu had refused to take part in a nomination proceeding in the show.

"It was a spontaneous reaction. They asked us to nominate right on the first day. You must have a reason to nominate someone, " he said.

However, he is glad he managed to the smallest jobs in the house.

"I accepted even the smallest work like cleaning the washroom. I can't help it if they didn't show that on screen. I was not a member of parliament when I went into the house... I was like a normal competitor. But yes, I didn't backbite people and did things in my own way, " he said.

Talking about the mental state of the contestants in the show, he said: "In the 'Bigg Boss' house, you don't have a support system of friends, family, phone and internet. So this builds pressure inside the house."

Sidhu also reveals he had entered the show due to his daughter.

"I wanted to prove to my daughter that a lotus blooms wherever it is. I knew that I was on the path of truth and this was the right way. I called my daughter first after leaving the house. She was crying and she told me that I was amazing in the show. She said you are my role model, " he added.

Having spent so much time with his fellow contestants in the house, Sidhu says he never developed animosity against anyone.

"I didn't dislike anyone. I can dislike a thought process, not a person. I liked many people in the house like Aashka Goradia, Delnaaz Irani, Aseem Trivedi and even Niketan Madhok, " he said.
