"Personally, I don't think it's the exact story, there must a broad outline but there is definitely some difference. But honestly, if you look at any remake, Hollywood or Bollywood, whenever you have tried to remake it, ask yourself has it been as good as the original, " the 44- year-old said here Saturday at the launch of Actiontek India.
The new "Aashiqui" is being made under the Bhatt banner - Vishesh Films. Directed by Mohit Suri, it features Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
Rahul admits he is a bit scared about how the new film will turn out.
"I am happy that was I a part of the first 'Aashiqui'. When I was doing that film, I did not know that it will be such a big hit, a historic hit. Today also that film is given such respect that they are remaking it. I am scared how the new 'Aashiqui' would be, " said Rahul, who paired with Anu Aggarwal in the original film.
However, he has extended his good wishes to the cast and crew of the new film.
"All my wishes are there, I think Mohit Suri is a great director. My wishes are with Aditya and Shraddha, " said the actor.
