Close on the heels of actor-director Deepak Tijori and his wife Shivani receiving an eviction notice from their society, the duo has filed a criminal case against nine members of their society, a copy of which is with MiD-Day The society had earlier issued statements stating that the Tijori family had been asked to evict their flat for non-payment of maintenance and creating nuisance to its members.
An irritated Shivani Tijori says, `I have decided to raise my voice against this issue as it will give a kind of a sanction to the managing committees to adopt a new way of threatening members.
There is no eviction notice that we have received and the amount R 5 lakh as property tax is completely false as in that case we should be staying in a flat of 15, 000 square feet.`
The actor-director's wife adds, `The whole issue beganwhen the committee started demanding maintenance charges from us for a period when we had not even bought the flat.`
The Tijoris had apparently got the possession of the flat in May 2010 and shifted there in August 2010. The couple was also miffed when the society incidentally gave the refuge and the fire safety area for shooting. Shivani adds, `In any given bylaw, one cannot throw anyone out of his or her respective home. This has caused us a lot of mental agony and our reputation is at stake.`
