Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala has underwent a successful surgery in New York, media reports said on Tuesday.

She underwent a surgery on Monday.

The actress, who charmed her fans with her performance in several Bollywood films like 'Bombay', was diagnosed with ovarian cancer recently.

Posting her picture before the surgery, Koirala tweeted: "Am n Chetna di, a day before surgery."

In November, the actress was admitted in Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital after she reportedly fell unconscious.

The exact cause of her illness was not clarified.

She later flew to the US for treatment.

In a Facebook message, Koirala earlier said: "Dear friends I m writing this as a request..pl no sadness, I hv told my closest friends n fam too..this is part of life..I m fine n will be fine no matter th out come..I m in gratitude with all the gifts I hv received from this life..like your love n prayers..lets celebrate life in all forms..thank you again for ur prayers...love m."

She acted in several Hindi films in her career including '1942: A Love Story', 'Agni Sakshi', 'Bombay' and 'Gupt'.

She recently made a comeback in Bollywood with 'Bhoot Returns'.
