"I don't believe in numbers. We did not choose the number 21 because we like it or because the film is about gambling or something," Datt said in an interview Friday.
"Constitution of India's Article 21 is 'right to life'. The game in the film somehow snatches that right from the player. The story is related to this article. We chose this number as we thought it is important to bring in this number into the film. That's why we chose the title 'Table No.21'," he said.
"Table No.21", releasing Jan 4, features Paresh Rawal, Rajeev Khandelwal and Tena Desae.
Datt has directed films as such "Aashiq Banaya Aapne", "Good Luck!" and "Will You Marry Me?".
