In "Main Aisa... ", Ajay plays a grown up man with the brain of a child. This is one role where Ajay will not be seen smoking.
Earlier, Salman Khan played a similar character in "Chandramukhi" with Sridevi, which did not fare well at the box office.
In "Main Aisa..", Ajay plays Neel who has the brain of a seven-year-old child. Neel is the darling of the small town he lives in. Life, for him, is fairy tale like where no wrong or evil can happen.
His world revolves around his seven-year-old daughter Gungun, whom he loves dearly.
Gungun's mother, Maya (Esha Deol), had entered Neel's life for a brief moment and left inexplicably, after giving birth to the child.
On the eve of Gungun's seventh birthday Maya's father, Dayanath (Anupam Kher), makes his entry. The elderly man has flown down from London to claim his granddaughter. He slaps a lawsuit on Neel claiming custody of the child.
Neel feels his world shattering around him. His search for a lawyer lands him at the office of Neeti (Sushmita Sen).
The lawyer - recently divorced, embittered and terribly ambitious, with a son whom she does not pay much attention to - takes up the case. She is won over by Neel's sincerity and his love for his daughter. Neeti finds herself learning many lessons from Neel.
The film, directed by Harry Baweja and with music by Himesh Reshammiya, is due for release May 6.
Child actors Rucha Vaidya and Raj Gokani share screen space with actors Vikram Ghokhale, Lillete Dubey and Naresh Suri among others.
