Director Vipul Shah, who earlier cast Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar as bank robbers in "Aankhen", moves completely away in "Waqt - Race Against Time".

The film promises to be a tear jerker and is about a well-to-do father and his pampered son, the sudden tragedy that strikes their lives and the way in which the father prepares his son for the crisis.

The film has several USPs, chief among them being the Bachchan-Akshay combination which, after "Aankhen", "Ek Rishta" and "Khakee", is looked upon with great interest by the film trade as well as the audience.

There's also the Akshay-Priyanka Chopra combination. After two solid hits "Andaaz" and "Mujhse Shaadi Karoge", they are looked on as the most successful pair of Bollywood since Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

Will Akshay and Priyanka deliver in "Waqt"? Another actor worth watching in "Waqt" is the director's talented wife Shefali. She impressed everyone with her performance as Manoj Bajpai's volatile wife in Ram Gopal Varma's "Satya".

She makes a comeback as Amitabh's wife in "Waqt".

Vipul Shah had suggested many other names including Hema Malini for the wife's role. But finally settled for his own wife after Bachchan himself suggested her name.

Director Vipul Shah insists the real star of the show is the script. Like his "Aankhen", "Waqt" too is based on a well-known Gujarati play. Written by Aatish Kapadia who also wrote the play, "Waqt" is the kind of tear jerker that has become rare in recent times.

The closest we came to celebrating the spirit of the Indian joint family in recent times was in "Baghban". But "Waqt" promises to be very different.

Its plot is simple and heart-warming. And everyone in the cast, from Bachchan to those two scene stealers Boman Irani and Rajpal Yadav throw in their piquant personalities to create a stirring sentimental drama.

Another plus in "Waqt" is Anu Malik's music. The unusual Holi song "Do me a favour, let's play Holi" has already caught on. Vipul Shah hopes the other songs will make an impact once the film is released next Friday.
