The filmmaker will introduce his new discovery for his film 'Kaanchi' as part of his birthday celebrations today

There are two dates in the calendar that are special to Subhash Ghai - January 24 and October 24. The former is his birth date while the latter is the day he set up his production house as well as his marriage anniversary. As is well known in B-Town, the filmmaker always makes the announcement of his new projects on October 24.

Incidentally, due to the demise of veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra on October 21 last year, as a mark of respect Ghai had cancelled his film announcement bash. So this time he has decided to unveil his new film's plans on his birthday. Last evening, he ushered in his 68th birthday at his film school along with the staff and students.

Says Ghai about his plan for the day, `I always begin my birthday celebrations with a puja according to Arya Samaj rituals. The day is spent with family. In the evening I am throwing a party where dear and near ones have been invited. It is not an elaborate do but all those close to me have been invited.`

The filmmaker is wielding the directorial baton again five years after his last film, the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Yuvvraj. He will introduce his new female face today, who will feature in the title role of his upcoming film that stars Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborthy.

`I have been keeping her identity under wraps as it took me months of a nationwide hunt to find her. But on my birthday I will let everyone know about my latest discovery, ` adds Ghai who has introduced Manisha Koirala, Mahima Chaudhary and Isha Sharvani in Bollywood. `I was not looking for an ethereal beauty but someone who will fit the character I have penned.`
