There have been films based on many political leaders around he world. And now we hear that in Bejoy Nambiar's upcoming film, the character played by veteran actress Rohini Hattangadi could well be based on Indian politico Uma Bharti.
Our sources say that the senior actress features in one of the sequences in the film, set in 1999.
A source points out, `The Mumbai portrayed in Bejoy's film is set in 1999 and has been inspired by real life. The character played by Rohini is inspired by Uma Bharti. Rohini plays a Hindu hardliner in the film, who believes that Catholics convert Hindu followers into Christianity, a controversial issue over the years.`
The informer adds, `Uma too has a similar point of view. In fact, a very high-profile case about a priest being burnt in Orissa has also been integrated into the story line. The title role played by Vinay Virmani's character sees this from the outside and is stunned at the ferocity of religious emotions.`
The film's producers remained unavailable for comment.
