Amrita Puri, who was seen in the Sonam Kapoor-starrer Aisha and later with Kunal Khemu in Blood Money, will next be seen in Abhishek Kapoor's upcoming film based on Chetan Bhagat's book.
And she went an extra mile to convince Abhishek to cast her as his female lead.
When the filmmaker had penned the role, he wanted someone young, fresh and with a spark. He auditioned a host of new female faces but didn't come across anyone who fitted his vision of the character.
During the casting process, Abhishek happened to meet Amrita at a party. He approached her and told her about the character in his film. A meeting was then fixed.
Says a source, `Amrita dressed up keeping the character brief she'd received when Abhishek casually told her what the role was about. This was the first step in convincing the director that she was his Vidya (her character name) in the film.
And when she tested and said her lines, Abhishek felt she would be able to stand out amongst the boys as the film revolves around three guys - essayed by Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Raj Kumar Gupta.
Amrita who began with theatre and modelling landed in Bollywood by chance through as SMS from a theatre friend who told her about the auditions of Aisha.
