Tigmanshu Dhulia, the creative brain behind both the movies, wasn't keen to comment upon the plans, but when probed, the director said: "I can't talk much, but maybe we go for part three as well."
When asked Rahul Mittra, co-producer of the film, he toed the same line.
"May be! We may go for part three but it all depends on how the film does at the box office and how is it received by the audience," he said without confirming anything.
If "Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster" climax left scope for a sequel, Mittra says they have done the same with "Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns" too.
"Yes, we have definitely left the germ in this film as well. Now lets see how things fall in place," he added.
Talking about "Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns" storyline, Dhulia said they have taken the narrative forward from where they had left in the original, which revolved around Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda's character who are entwined in the game of love, sex and betrayal.
"Yes, we have taken ahead the story from where we have left it but it will be a fresh story and those who have not seen 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster' will not feel left out. The film also has a recap of the earlier one," added Dhulia.
"Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster" was well received by the audience and for the sequel Dhulia has repeated Jimmy and Mahie who will be joined by Soha Ali Khan and Irrfan in the cast.
"Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns" is slated for a March 8 release.
