Filmmaker Deepak Tijori claims the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has flouted certification norms for Kamal Haasan's "Mumbai Xpress" and cleared the film in
the DVD and not in the regulation celluloid format.
According to Tijori, who accuses the Censor Board of putting him through a "bitter ordeal" for the clearance of his film "Khamoshh", the CBFC rules clearly state that a film
has to be submitted for clearance on celluloid format.
"However, Kamal Haasan was allowed to submit his film on DVD format. I am also planning to do the same for my forthcoming film 'Fareb' scheduled for a June 17 release.
The rules should be uniformly applicable to all," Tijori adds.
He also said Kamal Haasan got a U/A certificate for his film after he agreed to delete an item number.
"But they persisted on an 'A' certificate for my film despite deletion of objectionable scenes. It eventually ruined the business prospects of my film," Tijori lamented.
Censor Board officials were not available for comment.
