Like several other actors who have made a smooth transition from the small screen to Bollywood, telly actor Amit Sadh is all set for his Bollywood debut. Amit will act in Abhishek Kapoor's upcoming Kai Po Che along with his fellow TV actor Sushant Singh Rajput. After taking a break from the small screen, he is now anxious to see himself on the big screen...
Do you feel Sushant has generated a lot more buzz than you?
He is a popular face on television and you cannot deny that. He has a huge fan following and that is not in anyone's control. However I feel it is good for our film and the audience has accepted me as well as Raj Kumar Yadav.
You had a bit role in Maximum. Why did you suddenly disappear?
As far as television is concerned it is a conscious decision to stay away. I don't want to pursue TV at the moment. Instead I want to concentrate on films. But after Maximum, I was not offered any other film. Fortunately my casting director Mukesh Chabbra helped me get this role and I am here today. I am happy now.
Are you nervous as the release date is fast approaching?
No, I am anxious to see myself on screen. I have read Chetan Bhagat's book on which this film is based. I am really thrilled to get a chance to play my character Omi. While reading the book, I never imagined that one day I would portray this role on screen.
How was it working with Abhishek?
He is a fantastic director to work with and especially to start your career with. His vision about every character is so different. Gattu and Chetan have made changes in the script, as in a novel you have the liberty to write more. In a film you have to make sure you show important parts and edit unnecessary bits out. I think the final product is lovely.
Are you still in touch with your ex Neeru Bajwa?
Well, it is a personal question but she is not my enemy that I should not be in touch with her. She is a wonderful girl and I started my career with her. I have a lot of respect for her, as she is such a talented actress. I hope she does well in her film career. Whenever she needs me I call her and vice versa.
