"Chennai is very lucky for me because most of my 80s hits such as 'Himmatwala', 'Disco Dancer' and 'Dance Dance' were composed here. I've had so many memorable experiences in the city that are very close to my heart, " he said here.
"Chennai is a very safe place and whenever I come here I don't bring along my entourage because the people here have always been very friendly, " added Lahiri at the launch of his first Tamil number "Disco Naughty Naughty Raja" from the upcoming romantic-comedy "Karuppampatti".
The 60-year old also said that he has completed 40 years in the industry with this Tamil song.
He has composed music for several Telugu films such as "Gang Leader", "Nippu Ravva", "Rowdy Alludu" among many more.
The film, which is directed by debutant Prabhu Raja Cholan, features Ajmal Ameer in the lead opposite Aparnaa Bajpai and Alice Tantardini. It also stars Archana, M.S Bhaskar, Jagan, Srinath and Devadarshini.
Sundar K. has produced the film, which has music by Kannan.
