Shekhar Kapur to direct 'Dirty Dancing' remake

Buzz is the filmmaker could be directing the remake of 1987 Hollywood blockbuster

When Hollywood film Dirty Dancing released in 1987, it took cinephiles by storm. And now buzz is that Shekhar Kapur is all set to remake the cult film.

Our source says, `While there is news about Kapur making his long-pending film Paani, the fact is that he will soon start work on Dirty Dancing. Back then the film had received multiple awards in the form of Golden Globe, Oscar and Grammy. The producers are at the final stages of getting the rights of the film and Shekhar has helped them clinch the deal.`


The source adds, `Shekhar is currently not in the country and once he is back he will work on other details including the film's casting.`

Kapur however denies the buzz and states he is busy working on his next project Paani.
