'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns' is average while 'Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga' proves to be a dud at the box office

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns has proved to be an average fare at the box office. While the collections have been around Rs 12. 75 crore in its opening weekend, there were high expectations from the film considering that the first part was a hit. Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga has proved to be disaster at the box office.

The collections of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns were Rs 3. 50 crore on Friday, Rs 4. 25 crore on Saturday and around Rs 5 crore on Sunday bringing its total to Rs 12. 75 crore whereas Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga's opening weekend was below Rs 35 lakh only. Meanwhile Kai Po Che collected Rs 12. 85 crore in its second week making its total to around Rs 40. 38 crore after two weeks.

Trade analyst Atul Mohan says, `The reports of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns are not so encouraging but considering that the film is made on a stipulated budget, it might just breakeven during the course of the week.

If the film had been little better, it would have proved to be an earning proposition at the box office. On the other hand, Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga - contrary to the title - has proved to be a costly mistake to its makers. The film will lose money for everyone involved. `

Amod Mehra, trade analyst said, `Gangster did not work at the box office. The collections of Sunday were slightly better than Friday and Saturday. I guess the climax was not digestible and there was very little time between part one and part one.

The budget was four times more than part one and there is no positive word of mouth. All these factors together have worked against the film. As far as Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga goes, the film's title only says everything. It is extremely poor. `
