Sources say Salman Khan's next 'intelligent' film 'Mental' will not have any item song

For many filmmakers, item songs have become a necessary evil these days.

While some feel that an item number in a serious film can make it popular with the masses, others feel big stars making cameos in dance tracks can guarantee more eyeballs. However, buzz is that in Salman Khan's next film, to be helmed by brother Sohail Khan, there won't be any item song.

A source says, `In most of Sallu's recent films - be it Wanted, Main Aur Mrs Khanna, Ready and even Bodyguard - there are item numbers in all of them. Salman's next is an intelligent and a serious film and Sohail will be making his directorial comeback after a hiatus. `

While Sohail remained unavailable for comment, a friend speaking about this Bollywood remake of the Telugu film Stalin says, `Yes, it is true there are no item numbers. `
