"'Mastram' is about a porn book, which is selling in north India. It is a fictional biography of the writer. It is my take on how he became the writer of 'Mastram', " said Jasiwal who has teamed up with Rahul Bagga and Tasha Berry for the movie.
The first-time director says the writer of the book always intrigued him.
"During my teenage, I used to read 'Mastram' and I used to wonder who is this guy? And what he would be telling his family? The idea was there and after 'Gangs...' I started writing it, " he said.
Mainly so, because after the crime saga of "Gangs of Wasseypur", Jaiswal was not interested in revisiting the genre.
"I wanted to do something different after 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. For three years, I worked on 'Gangs...' So I didn't want to get into the same subject. And this (film) could be done on a small budget, " he said.
"I always wanted to be a director, not a writer. Writing is part of the process. If you are a writer, you can become a director, " he said.
Anurag Kashyap had produced and directed "Gangs of Wasseypur" which was liked by the audience. Although the filmmaker is not involved with Jaiswal's directorial debut, he looks up to him for help.
"Anurag is not involved, but he is interested in the subject. He wants to watch the film and I want his help to get it released, " said Jaiswal who plans to release "Mastram" at the year-end.
Currently he is writing for some "known directors. I am also writing my next film".
