They say one man's loss is another man's gain. Actor Rohit Roy, who was all set to remake the yesteryear hit Shaukeen, seems to have lost out on the battle over the rights issue. We hear that now writer-turned-director Rumy Jaffrey has taken over the project.
A source says, `While there were certain issues over the rights of the film, Rohit had been working on the film over a year. He had already finalised Bipasha Basu and Rishi Kapoor among others for the project.`

Roy, however, says the reason he backed out of the project was to avoid any legal tangles. He states, `Producer Bunty Bahl had the rights of the film from the last four years but now we learnt that Eagle Films has the IPRS rights. I did not want to get stuck in some legal tangle with my first film itself. I have no clue about Rumy Jaffrey making the film.`
Rumy on the other hand has already roped in Paresh Rawal and Anu Kapoor for his project. He says, `We have spoken to Rishi Kapoor but we still need to lock all the details with him. There are two companies who are coming together to make the film and they have got the rights.`

The director also plans to meet Basu Chatterjee, the director of the original Shaukeen and seek his blessings. `I would ideally want him to come and direct the first shot of the film.`
