"Ranbir and I were in a relationship. But we are friends now and will be for life. We know each other well and we had a lovely time shooting (the film)," Deepika said in a statement.
"Moreover, we were more like our characters than ourselves on the sets. I forget about my personal life when I am in character," added the actress who was last seen with Ranbir in 2008 release "Bachna Ae Haseeno".
The 27-year-old has three films lined up for release this year, but YJHD is the most the anticipated one.
Director by Ayan Mukerji, YJHD also features Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kalki Koechlin. It will release May 31.
Meanwhile, she is also shooting for "Chennai Express" with superstar Shah Rukh Khan and "Ram Leela" with Ranveer Singh.
