"In the year 2003, we were the first station to start off and with 'Maa Tujhe Saalam'. Through Red Live, we aren't just celebrating 10 years of being on air, we are hitting out into the heart of the city, across paras, across demographics to thank people in our own way, through music," said Station Head, Red FM, Jimmy Tangree.
Singers Ujjaini Mukherjee and Arindam Vicky, built the crescendo to the evening, which was Shalmali Kholgade.
Before taking the stage, Shalmali revealed that before the 'Pareshaan' song, her ticket to Bollywood, she had in fact recorded the Red FM jingle, with music director, Amit Trivedi.
She said,"Radio, in general, is such an integral part of any youngster's life. I used to travel by train to St. Xavier's,Mumbai, one and half hours, back and forth, and I used to listen to Red FM a lot. Now, being inside a booth, is a learning experience for me; and the mileage you give to our songs, is incredible."
She also mentioned that she had developed an inclination towards Rabindra Sangeet, and had recorded a few songs for the Tollywood industry recently.
She expressed her excitement over the rave that her song 'Balam Pichkari', with music director-singer, Vishal Dadlani, for the upcoming film 'Yeh Jawani Hai Dewaani', has been creating.
"If you hit the mountain right at the beginning, then you have no where else to go, but downwards, and that's scary. So, 'Pareshaan' & 'Lat lag gayi' have been a hit of that height. Now, I'm just hoping that my next songs are just as good," she said.
Shalmali enthralled the crowd belting out her chartbuster songs like 'Daaru Desi', 'Aga Bai' and 'Ishq wala Love'.
