Being a star kid has never been an easy ride for several of our Bollywood folk.
After Vindoo Dara Singh (son of wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh) was taken in for questioning by the police for his alleged role in the IPL controversy, the spotlight is back once again on the industry's second generation who have somewhat tarnished the family legacy at some point in their life.
Sanjay Dutt
Though he made his debut in Bollywood with a bang, Dutt's family underwent some testing times when the actor took to substance abuse and alcohol. The biggest blow for the actor's family came in 1993 when Dutt was arrested for possessing illegal arms under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act.
While he spent 18 months in jail, fingers were pointed towards his connections with the underworld. However, his father Sunil Dutt, a respected senior actor and politician left no stone unturned to have his son released from behind bars. However, the Senior Dutt is no more and the actor is currently serving his second jail term for the arms case.
Saif Ali Khan
Actor and son of veteran actress Sharmila Tagore and legendary cricket player Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Saif too has several headlines for the wrong reasons.
Along with Salman, he was involved in the shooting of two black bucks in Jaipur but the case has dragged on over the years. In 2008, on the sets of his first home production Love Aaj Kal, Saif apparently hit a photographer.
He was once again at the center of controversy after allegedly manhandling a senior citizen at the restaurant of a luxury Mumbai hotel. Saif was arrested and granted a bail. An automobile purchased by Saif also landed him in a soup for allegedly evading duty on the imported high-end car.
Salman Khan
His father is the prolific writer Salim Khan who (along with Javed Akhtar) gave Bollywood some of its most iconic films like Sholay, Mr India and Trishul.
While the Senior Khan known for his calm mannerisms and gentle demeanour, Salman however has often been tagged as the industry's wild child. Salman was first arrested for rash driving in 2002 after his car crushed a person outside a baker in Bandra.
He parted with his ladylove Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and is said to have created quite a ruckus on the sets of Chalte Chalte, after which Ash slapped a complaint of harassment against him. Later in 2006, he once again faced the heat after allegedly shooting black bucks in Jaipur, for which he even spent a few days in a Jaipur jail a few years ago.
Fardeen Khan
The flamboyant yesteryear actor Feroz Khan launched his son Fardeen in Bollytwood but the young Khan's image took a beating when he was caught for buying and transporting drugs.
Fardeen's career took a huge blow and since then the actor has not managed to hold his place in Hindi films.
Rahul Bhatt
The industry was shaken up when news trickled in about Mahesh Bhatt's fitness trainer son Rahul allegedly having connection with 26/11 mastermind David Headley. While Rahul had to face intense interrogation, his father stood by him during his darkest hours.
After all the negative publicity around his name, Rahul now apparently wants to make his debut in a film based on his life.
Puru Raaj kumar
The elder son of yesteryear star, the late actor Raaj Kumar, Puru was arrested in a hit-and-run case in Bandra. He is said to have paid a fine initially and sources say the matter was settled out of court.
Though he has appeared in films like Umrao Jaan, Veer and LOC Kargil, Puru has been missing from the big screen for some years now.
