Surprisingly the trailer of Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express which is produced by Karan Johar's friend Shah Rukh Khan, and also stars SRK has not found a place with YJHD.
We can now reveal that the trailer which has been selected to be attached with YJHD is Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again, the sequel to the successful 2010 drama directed by Milan Luthria which stars Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan.
Shockingly Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again releases on the same Friday (August 8) as Chennai Express.
To many in the entertainment industry, it's surprising that a film produced by Karan Johar would endorse a film that is in direct competition with Shah Rukh Khan's next.
Says a source close to Karan Johar, `One shouldn't read too much significance into this. It could just be a matter of being at the right place at the right time. The trailer of Chennai Express is not ready. Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again is a big film. And don't forget. It's produced by Ekta Kapoor, another close friend of Karan Johar. `
But the story doesn't end there. There are two other trailers attached to YJHD. While one of them is Karan's friend producer Farhan Akhtar's Fukrey the other trailer attached to YJHD just happens to be Shah Rukh's foe Ajay Devgn's big-ticket political drama Prakash Jha's Satyagraha.
Shah Rukh and Devgn were directly pitched against one another last Diwali when SRK's Jab Tak Hain Jaan and Devgn's Son Of Sardaar battled it out for theatrical space.
So out of the three trailers attached to Karan Johar's new film two are projects that could affect Karan's buddy SRK.
But then again, we could be reading too much into simple trade strategy.
