The actor apparently was asked to get a dose of the veteran's old classics to help mellow down

Wherever he goes, Ranveer Singh is known for his effervescent demeanour. However, the actor, who is known for his bubbly self, apparently had to undergo somewhat of a transformation for his upcoming film.

For his very subtle characterisation in Lootera, Ranveer apparently took to watching old Dev Anand classics in a bid to help him get under the skin of his character.

A source says, `When the actor was signed for Vikramaditya Motwane's next film, there were certain changes needed of him. The movie being a period film demanded the actor to emote through his eyes.

Dev Anand was known for his splendid emotional display through his eyes alone and the director wanted Ranveer to do the same. The film has a highly emotional storyline.`

Motwane remained unavailable for comment.
