The 25-year old actress reportedly hanged herself at her Juhu residence late last night. The incident is believed to have happened somewhere between 11 and 11.30 pm Monday night.
The actress' mother had gone for a stroll and returned to find the house door locked from inside. The door was then broken open and Jiah was found hanging. Jiah and her mother lived in Juhu's Sagar Sangeet building.
According to sources, cops interrogated her mom who said that Jiah had given auditions for few films down south which didn't go too well and as a result she might have gone into depression.

Jiah Khan's body was taken to Cooper Hospital for post mortem.
Jiah made her acting debut in the controversial Ram Gopal Varma's 'Nishabd' where she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Upon its release in March 2007, the film received mixed reviews, but Jiah was noted for her confidence, attitude, and sex appeal.

She also got a Filmfare Best Debutant Nomination. She then appeared alongside Aamir Khan in A R Murugadoss's 'Ghajini', the Hindi remake of the director's own Tamil film of the same name. Later she appeared as a supporting actress in Sajid Khan's multi starrer comedy film 'Housefull' (2010). This was her last film.
